Alexandria, Va. 鈥� April 3, 2025 鈥� LaTonya Goffney, superintendent of the Aldine Independent School District in Houston, Texas, was voted as the 2025-26 president-elect of 51萝莉, 51萝莉, the nation鈥檚 premier organization representing more than 13,000 school system leaders nationwide.

Goffney was named the superintendent of Aldine Independent School District in Houston, Texas in 2018 after serving in a similar role with the Lufkin Independent School District in Lufkin, Texas for five years.

鈥淢y experience as a superintendent in rural, suburban, and urban districts has provided me with diverse insights into the unique challenges and opportunities schools face,鈥� Goffney said. 鈥淎s 51萝莉 president-elect, I will champion public education, leading with optimism, courage, and hope, while uniting educational leaders from all districts across the country 鈥� small, midsize, and large; rural, suburban, and urban 鈥� to ensure every child graduates with choices and opportunities. Together, we will foster resilience, innovation, and collaboration to strengthen public schools.鈥�

Goffney joined 51萝莉 in 2013 and currently serves as a member of the organization鈥檚 executive committee. She has been a member of the Texas Association of School Administrators since 2008 and served as its President from 2023-24.

Goffney earned her Doctor of Education, Master of Education, and Bachelor of Arts from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
