Denise Diaz

Executive Director, Clark County School District (Nev.)

Denise Diaz serves as the Executive Director of the Engagement Unit, leading all family, community, and team engagement initiatives across the Clark County School District (CCSD). Previously, she directed the Family Engagement Department, building on her 28 years of experience supporting CCSD families. With 16 years in the classroom, Ms. Diaz developed a deep passion for family engagement, recognizing its vital role in student success.

Her commitment to advocacy led her to serve as a Family Engagement Project Facilitator for six years, supporting schools in implementing research-based strategies. She later became an Assistant Principal, where she strengthened partnerships between schools and families to enhance student achievement.

Ms. Diaz is highly knowledgeable in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) practice, policy, and research. She has played a key role in integrating SEL principles into engagement initiatives, equipping families, educators, and students with strategies to foster resilience, emotional intelligence, and well-being. Her work prioritizes culturally responsive and equity-driven engagement strategies that empower all stakeholders.

As a leader in the field, Ms. Diaz actively contributes to professional learning communities focused on SEL and engagement best practices. She bridges research and practice, ensuring evidence-based approaches are accessible and actionable.

Through her leadership, Ms. Diaz supports the SEL Exchange’s mission to promote high-quality, informative sessions that reflect diverse perspectives and experiences. Her dedication to strengthening family-school connections continues to shape policies and programs that foster student success and well-being.
